A vital, yet often overlooked part of our economy and society, not for profits and more recently social enterprises are providing amazing advocacy and services to those in need, and highlighting their plight.  In recent times however there has been a significant rise in scrutiny regarding corporate governance, volunteer welfare and also remuneration and fundraising activities.

Arguably, the responsibilities of the board of a not for profit are nearly equal to that of a listed company, however most board have volunteer members, some with little or no private sector board experience.  This unfortunately leads to issues and has resulted in many boards struggling to keep members due to fear of litigation.

Whilst many legal and accounting professionals provide pro bono or discounted services, there are few, if any that are involved in the risk management/insurance space.  We therefore provide the same service we provide our commercial clients to our not for profit clients, regardless of size.  Likewise we provide these services to social enterprises and associations because we understand how important that these grassroots organisations are for us all.
